Gene's version:

Gene, what did you tell Alivia on your walk about Alyssa? Did you tell her that Alyssa had sex????

What? No! I told her that Alyssa is going to have another baby by Jerrell and that she was not doing it the way God wants her to. I told her that you should be married first before having a baby.

Alivia's version:

Comes running in the house after her daily walk with her Daddy with a smile from ear to ear...

MOM!! Guess what??!!??
Alyssa is going to have another baby!!

I know honey, who told you?

Dad did.
Oh, and Mom, she did it with Jerrell.

Oh. Did what Liv?

It.

What's it?

Naughty stuff that only married people should do.

Uh huh, like what stuff?

I can't say.

You can tell me, I'm your Mom.

Hides behind the couch pillow and whispers....sex.

Gulp.
Okay...what is sex?

Naughty stuff.

Like?

Hides again...kissing!

Whew!
Well, it's a little more than that and it's not naughty if you're married like Daddy and I are.

I know, but Alyssa...she's naughty cuz she did it with Jerrell again.

Hannah Montana captures her attention.

Not sure where she learned the "S" word, but you know I almost panicked at the thought of having that talk with my 7 year old child. Lord knows, I do not need anything else added to my life, so for now I'm totally okay with her thinking she's going to be with child if a boy locks lips with her during recess.

I think I'll tell her if she doesn't keep her room clean she'll get boobs.
Big ones...bigger than her head.
Keeping my fingers crossed it works.

~Many Blessings~

Oh wow! While serious stuff, this is a funny story. I am definitely not waiting with baited breath for 'that' talk with Jasmine. The closest I've had is when she asked me about a month or so ago how babies get inside tummies (a few mum's at pre-school were pregnant at the time), so I said that it was a special thing that mummies and daddies do.

The next question I got, after the pre-school mummies had had their babies, was how the babies come out of tummies. "Do they come out through their tummies?" To which I replied, "yes, and another special way". Phew! I am grateful that the questioning stopped after that!

From the mouths of babes, albeit if that babe is 4 or 7! Hope the rest of your week goes well, and relatively 'difficult' question free!

Love ya, Paula :-)

Ah, 7 year olds! They do crack us up. That's a hilarious story, despite the seriousness of the topic. But, I'm laughing so hard over here about the big boobs idea - classic!

Well if that's how it works, I might quit cleaning all together!

Amy said...

Ditto to what Tami said...But it might take a while, because I haven't cleaned in the last 3 months, and nothing is "growing" in the boob department. LOL!;)

Bless your heart, Lelia! I don't know where my youngest learned about the "S" word either, but like Alivia, he was about 7 when my husband and I found out that he knew "something."

One night at church, we spotted two huge (what appeared to be) dragonflies...and they were "stuck" together.....So as Shannon and I spotted them, Daniel walked up.....He looked at the dragonflies......then he looked at us.....and said very matter of factly, "Yep, they're making babies."

Shannon and I wanted to crawl under the car and cry.

Sigh.

God bless you, friend!

Sweet Lelia,
I just LOVE your family. You have totally made my day. Wouldn't the world be a better place if we all thought kissing could cause one's womb to be filled?

I just love hearing the conversations you have with Alivia.

I love Gene's answer: "What? No!" in regards to talking about Alyssa's baby.

I'm just smiling ear to ear over that girl Liv. She is pressshhh-uuusss. Precious!!
Much love and prayers,
Paula

I love how the innocence of a child can make you laugh in the times of a trial. I'm still laughting.

My Brinn is 9 and we've tackled the where do babies come from question, because I know it's not in your tummy. She'd learned in science about the digestive system and told me there was now way that a baby could live in the tummy. Hm smarty pants.

So we talked about the other part God made just for babies. We're still working on the out part.

She's never said the word sex, but she somehow one day commented to hubby and I, when I spend the night at my friends house this weekend you and Daddy can have romantic nakedness. Brett and I just looked at each other. Where did that come from, she said well you see each other naked, and your always hugging and kissing. Not sure how she put the two together though.

Good luck on the big boobs, clean room. It's worth a shot.

Praying for you all.

Carol
