A Weekend worth Remembering...

Last night my husband and I returned from a weekend away from our daily life.
~Sigh~

Reality is hard to return to sometimes.

Every Spring we help out with the Family Life Weekend to Remember marriage conference in Omaha. It is awesome...especially if you apply what you learn! We so often don't do that so this year we decided that we do just that.
Learn...then apply.

When Gene called his Dad and told him where we were, he immediately thought our marriage was on the rocks. Gene reassured his Dad that we are okay and that we are just trying to improve our marriage. He prayed for us anyway and kept telling Gene how much he loves his daughter in law!

If you have never attended one of these weekend getaways, I HIGHLY recommend you do. If you can, try to stay at the hotel the conference is being held because when there is break away sessions it's nice to have the option of going to your room. It is for all couples...pre-married, newlyweds, happily married, miserably married...come one come all and believe that God is going to meet you there. It's an incredible experience and we will go till we get it right...so guess we'll be attending every year which would explain why this was our 5th year going. Marriage is tough and in today's world Satan certainly doesn't want us to succeed in this area. There are also gift certificates available in case you want to send someone you love. Also, pastor's and their wives attend for free!

Okay...this week I need you to join with me in celebrating how great our God is! Wednesday, March 25th marks the 1 year anniversary of the YES to GOD blog studies! So hard to believe a whole calendar year has come and gone. Next Tuesday, March 24th we will begin the 5th book of the YES to GOD studies...Micca Campbell's book An Untroubled Heart.

If you will be joining this study then make sure to have chapter 1 read and ready to discuss on your own blog by next Tuesday the 24th. If you have never done a YES to GOD study before, on my sidebar there is a YES to GOD button you can click on for the FAQ's of how it all works. All are welcome to join in at anytime...you will find this is a very relaxed place to meet. You can also sign up for the study on the sidebar.
To celebrate the one year anniversary of YES to GOD each author whose book we have done and are about to do has graciously donated her book as a prize! So each day this week we will be giving away a book a day. All you have to do is leave a comment so that I have a name to draw. Each morning a winner will be announced and a different book given away. Thanks to all the authors who are blessing us with your book...Lysa TerKeurst, Lisa Whittle, Jennifer Rothschild and Micca Campbell!
Today we are giving away Micca Campbell's new book...An Untroubled Heart!
That way if you are joining us in the study next week, but haven't bought the book yet then here is your chance to win yourself a copy! If you have bought the book and you win then you will have the opportunity to either give it away on your blog or pass it on to a girlfriend and ask her to join us on Tuesday's.
You do not have to have a blog to participate.
Micca..thank you so much! Looking forward to this YES to GOD journey with you!
Have a blessed day and we'll see you tomorrow to announce the winner and the next book to be given away! Also...tomorrow will wrap up the wonderful study of Jennifer's book,
Self Talk, Soul Talk.
Incredible book and can't wait to read what you share about how God has changed you between chapter 1 and chapter 11!
See you tomorrow!
If you are going to be joining us for Micca's study...I encourage you to visit her blog, Reflections and introduce yourself. I think that will really encourage her heart. Plus, it's a really awesome blog!

~Many Blessings~

We considered going to the Weekend to Remember conference this year, and I think we let finances get in our way. You are yet another person I have heard say it is worth every moment (and penny). Thank you for the reminder, as we build our budget for this year I think we shall start a Weekend fund!

Thanks for the info on the new Yes to God study...I'm considering doing it.

We have never done a "weekend to remember" but have heard GREAT things about them. With a housefull of kids just getting away is wonderful let alone some good biblical instruction!!

I've heard Family Life's conferences are great. Your pa in law is funny...but who couldn't love you?!!

I have the next book and the others so you can pass me up on the drawing and bless another precious soul.

Yes, if more people would be aware of satan's attacks primarily at marriages and be proactive...doing before any problems occur we wouldn't have the CHRISTIAN divorce rate we do. How sad.

Just finished typing my finale to this study with Jennifer.

I see you have a post from Friday that I missed.

Love ya.

I haven't gotten my book yet!!! Enter me, but regardless, I need to get on the ball with this baby! It is such a pretty book, don't you think? I remember when Micca was toying with the cover and talked about that on her blog. I think she chose the perfect picture.

And ditto to what Paula said: who wouldn't love you, Lelia?

One of these days I'm going to shock you and join in on your study. Doing 2 others now. I think I'll be free for the summer, so I'll join you then?

Love you Leila!

The 'weekend to remember' is so great! My husband and I have gone twice...but it has been awhile. My son and his new wife were given conference tickets as a wedding gift and went just a few weeks ago. I thought it was great that they were able to go as newlyweds.

Lelia,
Yes, what a wonderful conference - we've attended once, but it would be a wonderful annual retreat!! Glad you were blessed!

I'm looking forward to Micca's book! I'm feeling like it will be a relevant one once again - how do you know what I need to read??
Blessings,
jill

So glad you and your husband had a great weekend. My hubby and I did Weekend to Remember last year and loved it. We got a lot out of it and are now leading a couples Bible study using the Family Life materials. I encourage every married couple to go!!

I have just purchased "Fireproof" and "The Love Dare" and am now trying to figure out how to present this to my husband in a non threatening, non "religious" way so that he will participate.

Our marriage isn't on the rocks, but like all marriages there are areas we (I) need to work on.

My marriage is also an unequally yoked one, which has it's own complications, but I feel the Lord is moving in that area.

Haven't been to visit you in a while Lelia, so glad I did today!

Congratulations KIM!

Lelia,
I really enjoyed this bible study!
I finished it last night and really want to get a post up about the last chapters I didn't blog.

Like Behind Those Eyes, this book, taught me so much. First it was wonderful to see that I'm not alone having goofy thoughts pop in my head. But the truths and insights I hope to carry with me for the rest of my life.

I need a new notebook to start our next study because I have written so much about this book in my other one. I'd love to share my book with someone else but... I also wrote alot in the margins of my actual book, and don't want anyone to read it. lol

I love this author so much, I definitely want to read more from her!

Have a great day,
Lea
THANKS SO MUCH FOR DOING THESE STUDIES. I REALLY APPRECIATE YOU LELIA! I know that staying in a bible study sure has enriched my life. THANK YOU SWEET SISTER!
