I knew she had no idea what "broth" is but I should've made her eat it for writing on the door.
She knows I loved the message, but not where she chose to display it.
Little does she know everytime I saw the door today how big my heart smiled.
You know that verse that says to give our thoughts captive to Jesus?
That's what I chose to do today as I looked at this sweet child of mine and began to wonder how life with her as a teenager will be.
My thoughts quickly went to eating my young'uns.
Then Jesus stepped in and just captivated those not so nice thoughts.
Think I'll eat the can of broth instead.
Thanks for your prayers for Alyssa. Keep them going as she is still not home, but is staying with her friend Amy and made some goals today.
This is such an understatement, but God is SO good.
This walk of faith? Not so bad as long as I keep hold of my Guide's nail pierced hand.

I can only imagine the joy and yet tongue-biting feelings you had at the beautiful message yet in the wrong spot.
How sweet about the broth. Did you tell her what it was? I guess she thought it was chicken soup.
Yes, totally soak her up at that age. Though, it doesn't mean she'll give you a hard time as a teen but the innocence of the young is so endearing.
Praying for you. Glad to see this post today and see the joy of the Lord. Glad to hear Alyssa at a safe place and transitioning her thoughts.

That Alivia is just such a cutie but I can only imagine the "mixed feelings" you have about that love letter.

We have so much in common. I, too, have to scratch my head trying to figure out the two teenagers in my house... but praise God (!) that He saw fit to send me a little one that is 7 year old now that keeps me sane every day. Her sweet spirit (and can I also add obedient spirit) is what keeps me smiling through my day.
I love those teenagers so much too... but they tend to baffle me most of the time.
I have come to appreciate in my old age the little things that will be sweet later such as writing on the wall... giving me painted rocks about 10 times a day... etc. What a fountain in the middle of the desert.

My now 7 year old did something similar at the age of 6. It's still where he put it, and I won't move it as it reminds me that he is still such a young boy. I don't know about you, but I get caught up thinking he's too old to have done that, or that he can take on much more than he really should because of how wonderfully bright and generally capable he can be, and then he reminds his Mama that he really is still so "fresh from Heaven"...
Sometimes (ok, almost all the time) I am bemused by my teenagers. Sometimes I give up trying to understand them because it's doing my head in. But always I pray for them, hope for them, love them, as you do. I will continue to pray for you and yours, and hopefully neither of us will need to eat them in the near future. Although, we are in a drought! Food could get scarce around here! LOL!
Oh. Dear. One day you will laugh about it, right? They're all out to get us. I've come to that conclusion. This is after spending several hours at the wave pool yesterday supervising five pre-teen boys. I'm still recovering. Take that picture and frame it, dear one! One day you might need reminded that these were once the things worried over!!

Oh Lelia,
I'd be so tempted to put a frame around it. How precious! Now eight years ago I would not have said that. But now that my oldest is 13 I long for those days when she was just so innocent and pure in her emotions and intentions.
I'm still praying for Alyssa. She's on my morning and evening prayer list. May the Lord capture her heart afresh and never let it go!

I actually think I could cook broth! And really, that little message is so sweet. We kept a section inside our cupboard where my daughter wrote her name for years. I think it's still there. Maybe she wrote it in perm. marker so you would never doubt it--her love is permanent!
